"Salty" would be an understatement.Looks like it was in the ground at some point.

Glenn, I'm not sure myself whether it is from bad storage ( ground or otherwise) conditions or something eating it. What is left is solid, i think any rotten material probably came off when it was washed.

To be honest that is a real challenge for restoration. But with patience and the skills of a superior seamstress you may be able to find other tunics for parts. OR you can do like me and just have some challenges lay around the house till your an old man. Any way you look at it , it is still a real SS tunic and a piece of history. OR you could turn it into a piece of military art. Frame it and caption the frame with: See what happens when you don't keep your head down.

lelez apparantly it was found in a barn in Germany ( "German" mice Bryan not Australian, does that make it more original?)
