Hello Munster, that is interesting and helpful information, I was thinking there could have been a mis-communication somewhere between the family and the government authorities.
    Thanks, Michael

Well, it WAS Ulric of England's, but now it is with me. Why do you ask? What is your take on things?

            Hi Michael,
sure, it's yours now. No concerns about Ulric. I looked at this box myself, but couldn't make any sense of the carving on the cover. I am still looking for a standard Mein Kampf box.

Going to back to the original box. IMO it was carved in Russia by a local Russian artist and was used to transport his personal effects and letter from the commander back to the family.

That is consistant with items I have seen or obtained in the past.

                    Hello,
WAF member Colorado has graciously let me quote him. He has an intriguing theory , and here it is discussed a bit more indepth,
                    --Michael

"I saw a box similar in Germany that contained the effects of a Soldier. I currently own a named plaque made in Russia that has similar workmanship. Although unrelated, I own a cardboard box that contained the effects of a Soldier. It is significant in that all of these items I have seen or owned were dated 1941 and I think it was common to send these back during the first "successful" year in Russia. Just an opinion. It is more plausible than other explanations for your box. "

                        Very interesting,
                        more than in one way.
It is between a "standard" box , and somthing more personal.
Notice the Eihar wolf-hook varient rune, it is an attention getter
And how it is oriented to a sideways presentation even with the Hagal rune, etc to be on a top and bottom configuration even though it is sideways compared to the standard box.

                        Any more photos?

for me box 1 and 3 are MK boxes.box 2 looks more a "sippen"box for important things of this family/person and all 3 boxes are great

                              KIA memorial SS box

Uscha, why do you think this box is "merely" a MK box?
I ask as it has a very personalized cover for one individual who was KIA.
It just makes more sense that it was a memorial box for this specific fallen soldier, rather than a box used to aid in the ritual of SS marriages, as the regular SS box with standard Sig runics are said to be.

Also, it was sold by Ulric of England(who knows a bit about SS customs) as a SS shrine for a fallen SS man.

Some others have privatley confirmed their belief in this box being a hero's shrine.

i think it because the box have the standart size and design from a mk box.only the front is different.for me it is a mk box with personal/remerberence design and this is for me rarer as all the standart ss mk boxes.from yours give it only one piece.
                                regards
