    SS Untersturmführer collarpatches.

    Hi.

I have put the SS rune-side on the forum before and it got the thumbsdown.
I have put the grade-side on the forum before and it got the .
Now I have taken some new pictures of the pair. Felix liked the grade-side and I agree with him. You can also se some small moth-holes.
The SS runes are not the best I have seen, but I wonder if they could have been made localy in Norway as this pair has been found here.
I am open for opinions !

    Best
    Derek

Few opinions so these must be hard to tell...

The runic tab doesn't have the attributes one looks for in "standard" examples. However, there are odd examples...just look at period pictures. Still, this tab's runic features are not standard nor symmetrical.

                      best,

The final appearance of the runes depends upon the skills and technique of the individual embroiderer...I think these probably do have the standard RZM approved cardboard template beneath them...I like the look of the bullion thread used, I like the backing, which I've seen on almost all branches of TR tabs, and I like the quite thin piping, which is not often seen on copies...my vote is still original!

Yes, maybe so, I like the tabs where the rune bases line up moreso. To be clear, the underlay is placed to avoid variation--thus RZM quality. Like I said, they may be correct buy they are not very well made. I agree, they have some other construction qualities. In the end I think they're correct.

I imagine that when being embroidered, sometimes the two runes of the template were affized to the backing cloth still attached together, or at least in the exact same relationship to one another. Its also possible, though, that the coardboard runes would be separated and affixed to the backing, then embroidered, one at a time. This would account for variations in the positioning of the runes with regard to one another. Then, of course, there was the step of positioning the buckram on the back and folding the edges of the tab over- this too could lead to variations in the postioning of the runes on the finished tab. There are photographic representations of many slightly different configurations...

                              Hi and thank`s.

Not the nicest SS runes I have seen, probably the worst but over all I like them very well and as they come from Norway they will fit in my collection well

                              Regards
