              Wewelsburg,

The SS-Oberfuhrer collar tabs you posted are not originals. Compare to the ones posted by Paul S. Note the considerable difference in detail and materials.

              Bob,

Here are three pair from Willi Schumacher's Collection. The first two pair he used to own and the last belonged to SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Karl Demelhuber, part of the insignia grouping.

                        Curt,
Is yours tab in post 23 tagged?
It looks like an SA tab.

No, no tag. Is there any way to tell for certain?

                            Curt,
I have not seen a photo of an SS guy with this style, all I have seen were the loose looking leaves posted by Paul above. If you notice the detail in his, all the SS ones that I would like to have have that sharp detail. I had a pair of the SAs on black velvet like yours with a metal pip. I believe Munich(?) was the black backing for the SA.

I thought that the only the SS used velvet -- not the SA.

                                Hey Dave,

The tab Curt D posted is, from what I understand, representative of an early variant SS General. I have one similar to that in my possession, and so does Dave Delich. Dave sent me a picture of his to post as reference on my site (I have both tabs posted in the "W-SS Insignia Personality" page).

However, there IS another piece similar to these making the rounds which you may be referencing. These are a similar pattern but have only TWO acorns (instead of three), and I've seen several of these in the past year, some with pips, both metal and embroidered. One had a fake tag on the back. Some are very well done, others poorly made. The people owning them thought they were SS, but for now they remain a mystery.

                                Mike
