    Question: Allach cup...

    Hi folks:
I have a question, and I'm hoping someone might help me out. I have two porcelain cups with what I'm told are Allach marks. My guess is that the cup is from a mess hall or other institutional setting. Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

Tom, Yes Allach did make dinner ware such as these cups. They look good to me including the maker marks. Best, Erich

Sorry but in my opinion the mark and the cup are fakes.

The lettering is off and does not have the ch joined. It's close, but no cigar...........

Here is the relevant photo from Michael Passmore's book (although it is missing the earlier "floral" Allach mark)

Are you saying that cup and mark are good?

The link you posted only shows Allach horses from what I can see.

                piet,

you have a nice pair of Allach horses, but this cup is a fake.

Here is a link to a coffee service also with the same fake Allach mark as the one Tom showed.

                Any other opinions out there?

Here's a comparison of the marks.

                  Tony-

I'll throw in my .02 American cents (basically worthless these days!)

I have three pieces of gold leaf foil "A.H." monogram Allach porcelain and all have a Allach logo identical to the "original" one you posted above.

I don't have nearly enough experience with Allach to say if the logos on the two cups that started this thread are good or bad, but imho if I were adding a piece of Allach to my collection I would want the Allach logo to look exactly like it does in your image. The cups posted look a bit massive and "heavy-duty" for porcelain... they look like standard mess hall ceramic pieces to me.Did Allach make porcelain cups in this style?

                    Hi Rob,

I believe you probably have something like this?

It's a good Allach mark for me.

                          Hi folks:

Thanks for the replies, and to Tony for his efforts!

I didnt buy the cup, and once confronted about its dubious nature the seller has gone absent.

Kudos to the W/A forum for saving me a hundred bucks!

I think Rob was right with this observation. To me they look like $2.00 coffee mugs from Walmart. And why would anyone put a valuable piece of porcelain on a goddamn rock to photograph it? I would not do that with even the cheapest piece of Allach I own in case it got damaged.

I've yet to see a piece of Allach that did not look like a quality item, like the AH pieces. You can see the refinement and obvious difference immediately. Of course those were made for Adolf so you would expect to see the best quality possible.

I would be curious to see common mess hall items stamped with the correct Allach markings, if anyone has any to show? I've never seen one piece yet in the 8 years I've been collecting Allach.
