The saltiest SS Fez I've ever seen

Looks at how this fez was folded for the pocket or the like - the leather sweatband is completely without "texture" in the front from wear, and the eagle and skull obviously didn't like being folded up. It looks almost as though someone wore it inside a helmet from the wear.

I am temptedto keep it folded up like this for display. Anyway, it's presented for your enjoyment!

Fortunately, it has the size stamp - otherwise, it could be a Hong Kong fake!

I know the collectors who like minty items won't think much of this, but I'm very happy to have found a truly worn field example. Most of these are mint and as found in stores, and typically a "worn" example has very little trace wear.

Thanks for looking - s/f Robert

I think this is many times more desireable than a mint piece found after the war.

Really interesting find Robert! Well done! W'll probably never know whether it was used during the war or abused after the war, but it is still nice to see a 'worn' example. There should be some fezzes out there with "Handschar"/"Kama"/"Skanderbeg" provenance, but personally, I have never seen one. Congratulations!

                              With kind regards,

                              Cees
