I am having trouble telling whether that is a gray or tropical eagle. I initially thought it was gray, but the more I look, the more it looks like a tropical to me.

Hi, it is tropical from what I have been able to find out, it is the gold tinted bevo eagle, not gray at all...

Are you sure it wasn't just cut down from an unissued piece? Is there evidence of stitching?

Even if uniform removed I would say that the cutting of the edges should reduce the price to the USD 100 - 120 range.

the price you payed.is o.k. in the u.k.that eagle used or mint would set you back.about 70/75 uk pounds.from uk dealer.i think you have a nice original
eagle at a fair price.and like a house will only cost a lot more in a few years.
