i see nothing wrong with the patch in question and it can be said it could have been on any uniform, here are a couple shots of Todt Men wearing a hand made one like others. so if Todt men worn these any Org could have?
thanks greg
Not only are these patches NOT Finnish, more importantly they are also NOT hand embroidered...like the discussed Finnish shield... These are standard (Flemish) machine embroidered Org Todt pattern Flandern nationality shields unrelated to this thread...Sorry! Nick
oop's I have other photos of what is at question somewhere and will try to locate them, sorry for all that.. LOL....................
but I'm sure i have some of the correct patch,
greg
Oh come on guys get off me, I went to look for the correct ones but got mixxed up and posted the wrong one, but some of those i did post are not the machine made but hand made ones. I will relook for the correct one in question as i said, so please don't turn this into "i posted the wrong one" and stay on the one in question.
No problem Greg. To my knowledge the "norm" for Flemish OT shields with the Flandern verbeage = machine embroidered variety, but there could have been exceptions with those as well I guess... but the posted pictures don't clearly proove that...
Look forward to seeing period pictures of hand embroidered examples of the Finnish ones from you! That Belgium site you got these (off topic) images from is a great source. I am also going to dig for more examples in period (Finnish volunteer) pictures.
But just like the Flemish OT pictures you inadvertently posted, the norm for standard nationality shields (any branch, SS, OT etc...) is machine embroidered,as these shields were mass produced for large formations! Of course there are always exceptions... like officer's variety, tailor hand created shields and those that came off of Finnish armbands...the topic of this thread... Thanks for your participation and input! Nick
