    S.P.40 Skull

I came across this skull the other day. I think it is probably a bad one, but wanted to get a second opinoin before dismissing it.

Well I'll await more informed opinion but I'd put it on hold in the meantime. From these photo's it closely matches the features I'd expect to see on an S.P.40.

It looks like a copy cast from an original to me (which was missing the pins at the time the casting was made). It lacks general detail, but that could be due to worn out dies or use wear. The bigger sign of a cast copy to me is the holes where the pins used to be. They appear shallow and rounded, as if there was never a pin there and without room for a pin to ever have been. On an original piece with crimped attachments which had lost its pins, I would expect to see a small, clean, flat-bottomed hollow area visible underneath the crimp where the pins used to be.
