      John,

could you please send close up pictures how the titles are sewn on to the tunics, machine sewn or hand sewn and in which way.

        John,

What color green are the boards on your LAH tunic for (I don't trust the color I see on my screen)? Are they Gebirgsjager green? I've been looking for a good pair of slip-on boards for an SS Gebirgsjager Untersturmfuhrer, and I'd like to see better pics of yours (even if they aren't "technically" the same rank!) . . .

        Thanks,

        Brad

        P.S. Yes, I did acquire the P.E. tunic I e-mailed you about a while ago . . .

The title is machine sewn on. The insignias are post war added except for that,so the boards arent original to the tunic they are panzergrenadier green. But this wasnt posted about its insignias rather about tunic construction.Which is 100% wartime and would be the same without the insignias or if it were a completely stripped tunic or even one badged for a heer officer, the construction is still wartime and done to mimic an enlisted tunic.

Not at all Brad. they are nice boards except they are heer, I dont own the tunic, its just with me at the moment. I just dont want people to base opinions on how some piece of insignia is sewn for all we know everything was added nothing can be proven, the story might be made up the papers fake etc. etc....but the fact is the tunic construction is wartime and it is the same as that on the wartime made Weissenbock tunic. So if someone put the Weissenbock tunic together from a "great coat" as was suggested by a member who deleted his post in my other thread, they knew how to tailor just like a wartime German tailor and the pattern for the unusal liner with two belt hooks. IMPOSSIBLE and if anyone can show me an old+aged tunic faked that well I will buy you a round and a cigar. Im not saying a rebadged im saying with this kind of special tailoring that is non standard. They couldnt even do a Panzer wrap correct using great coat parts.

I believe this man knows what he is talking about. I am always impressed when an individual expresses detailed knowledge and backs it up with facts.

Thanks for the compliments Gents, Im no expert but I like to take a thorough look at things I personally feel there are no experts in this area of the hobby..its a very dangerous area to tread as we have seen.

Here is another non textbook example tailored in the form and cloth of an enlisted SS M37 upgraded. But in fact is not because an SS M37 has the lower slashed pockets and this one had the square pleated ones.
This one got all kinds of praise from SS collectors because it was cut similar to an early SS tunic but in fact was another private tailor mimic.
It also had the same set up for the liner and belt hooks.

John, thanks for the great research. I hope you now proved the non-believers otherwise.

I still miss this beautiful and stunning tunic.... I am glad it's in capable hands.
