    SS camo....what is this?

I have a friend who is married to an Austrian lady, who has several relatives that served in WW2, and whose first husband was in the Luftwaffe. Some of her relatives were Waffen SS. On one of their trips to visit relatives in Austria my friend was given this to bring to me by some family member. It is very small. The chest form I stuck it on to photograph it is small, and it won't even close. The only buttons are on the cuffs, and the only other fastener is the waist ties. I think it is likely something made for some purpose. I don't believe it is any kind of "issue" item. I don't know if it is made from a zeltbahn or what. Has anyone seen something like this before? Probably nothing...but then it was free.

    Thanks,
    Ron

A couple of years ago I was at the war Museum in Vienna and they had a child's hooded jacket made from SS camo material which dated about 1946-47. I thought this was pretty interesting to see the surplus army material used to make civilian clothing.

Interesting piece. Cant confirm originality like Bob says but a very interesting private made item.

Did anyone see the hoard of smocks Weitze just pulled out of the woods?

Take a close look at the sleeves.

The material is certainly ok, it is 1/2 platane overprint, originaly coming from a zelt. I would guess it is a postwar made piece for a civilist...could be for a woman or a teenager...as it appears to be quite small?

          Cheers
