    SS-FJ jumpsmock: value?

An original SS-paratrooper jumpsmock was found here in germany, and is now offered for sale (but not in public, only a handful of collectors will have the chance to see and buy it): Very good condition, all snaps, zips, and breast-eagle present.

As it is now over 10 years that I have sold my last one, I wonder what is the current value?

Gee, I bought the one I owned for 1,20 DM in 1973 at a flea market in Nuernberg. You mean they have increased in value?

I hope you are not meaning this serious. When I say the smock in question was just found in germany, and will NOT be shown to the public, you can be sure I mean what I say.

Of course the smock I am talking about is in pea-pattern.

Must be, as my first one costs 100,-DM on a munich fleamarket in the early 80s. But it comes with a box full of fieldgear.

So the value might be now 350,-DM...?

            You think that much?

No, actually I sold mine for a wopping $550.00 a month or so after I picked it up. Wish I had kept it, but that money paid a years tuition at the U of I!

I have handled that smock, too - but it was far away from being mint, and had no eagle.

Thats the wish (or better, the order) of the guy who found it - and I will respect it. So as long as its not mine I will not post any images.

Thats not a unique piece, there are some out there published.

Bob, we both know those have been on the market for years and will never sell at that price. I saw one offered for $12k and it went for much less.

They are not really that rare. Not as rare as a tan one. I have studied a number of them.

                            value

                            IMO Rediculous...
With respect, once again, value is subjective...period. Will they sell at 20-25k...never??? Hmmmm. Was a recent "Totenkopfverbande" title offer in the 20k region ridiculous? To some maybe, others would be happy to have one, or even see one. The people with old collections will be ready to get MAX value when selling, even ridiculous sums whether we like it or not. For great items, competition is fierce and not getting any better with time. Don't be fooled, advaced collectors are banking on this--I am. With fires, theft, natural disasters, fakes, many new collectors and the big money guys lurking, for some items the opportunity may only come once. I have to laugh when advanced collectors want to keep prices low, even when it effects their collections. What? Why?
New collectors remember, buy low and sell high...everyone follows the same business notion. Try buying a smock from an advanced collection and then try selling to one, you'll see a difference...even for the same piece. Sometimes, it seems the rarer the piece the cheaper the offer. I've heard it before.
Guys, hold this thought, lets talk again in 20 years.
                            Or...is this all hype...HA.

                            Regards to all,

I would have thought that would be more in line with the price an Original piece would bring.

However, Willi is correct (IMO) the SS camo ones are not as rare as the Luft. tan ones.

What Willi, three or four of the tan examples known to exist??
