Oh Well , He who hesitates loses. They were snatched up. There were 75 in total and they were 100% original. Good thing is I stumbled into a good SS and FJ connection! Pardon me now while I go smash my head into the wall 500 times.Iam Uncle Sam

Iam really depressed about the whole thing. I still will always stick to if you do not know about the item , leave it alone but that really nipped me in the butt this time.
The guy turned out to be not just a house clearer but a hardcore collector and one of the best connections Ive met in a long time. We spent 4 hours today going through stuff. Tons of SS paper an entire crate of archived MIA FJ troopers and a ton more. We are meeting for dinner on tuesday being we hit it off very well. This is the SS connection that I have been lacking but interesting to people on this forum he for certain has scored no SS unis that come from vets .Iam Uncle Sam

Well, Dion, with 75 buttons bought up, I would think we will soon see these on the market. I have never known, for sure, if Assmann actually produced SS skull buttons during the wartime period, but it would have been good to get an example of this type, for comparison reasons.
Let us ope we soon see these on the market.

It supports my own theory that the nearest most people will get to owning an SS combat tunic is to restore a stripped one...........using only original and 'salty' badges, of course. Even that process can take years, as original badges are slowly picked up.
I think most of the 'mint SS combat tunics' seen today are copies.
Every site you look at these days seems to have half a dozen mint SS combat tunics.
And yet, years ago, they were never seen at all. At least, not on this side of the Atlantic.

Bob
I was wondering if they would also turn up on the net. A lot of what comes from where I live finds its way up to Hamburg or goes to local shows and doesnt hit the net. Or sometimes just stays in a collection.
After looking at the price I could have got these for Bob I could have kept a couple and made a fair chunk of change. Iam really depressed.
Robin,
We spent hours talking and going through tons of items he picked up. A nice collection of paper and a cufftitle maniac. The subjecct of SS unis came up and his thoughts were the same as yours, and mine. No matter how many house clearances or private appointments made, never any SS tunics. Everything else possible but never SS tunics. Mind you also he has been doing it 20 years longer then me.
Good thing about missing these TK buttons is it really opened up a brand new door and I might be dragging in more "black" itemsIam Uncle Sam
