Fake!
The wrong shade of green and the ground is nearly !!!purple!!!
and the wrong cut(too big pockets, too fine for an field made piece,no belt ramps, the backside seam edge is outside!!!cheap!!!)
,looks complete unworn no signs of 62years age,the rank is too high,if this rank worn a tunic like this, than would be several insignia on it.
I would say an fake out of fake cloth from an less than clear period pic!!!

Without handling this item its difficult to make a fair judgement, field made pieces are notoriously difficult to assess but some of Spongebob;2025801's comments need to be challenged

So what is the correct shade of green? Wide variations exist in the clarity and boldness of the colours just look in the Beaver Book, ditto the comment on 'purple' not only does the camera play tricks, note the picture of this jacket reversed, the background is almost brown, but again variations in background colour exist.

Its a FIELD MADE Piece! What's your definition of fine? Large pockets are actually extremely pratical, especially if you have no lower pockets on your jacket, Belt ramps are uncomfortable and if made for a SNCO, which is the rank on this jacket, he may well have had them ommitted. CHEAP, I'll say! If made by a company tailor then its a utilitarian item not designed for a sartorial autopsy 62 years later!

Its a SNCOs tunic, despite what you think they did not all immediately attach insignia to their jackets, check out any number of period photos most show an absence of any insignia on camo items, hence the interest when a picture showing insignia being worn is shown or published.
