      another angle

The helmet has the shield on "volunteer" side (original ground dug "Halbe pocket" with liner and interieur in perfect condition, only chin strap needed replacement, with a late war thin ersatz type!)

          Hi Nick,

From what I can see: great flatwire tab!

          Kind regards,
          Gerd V

Yes, the tab looks good but it is officer grade, not EM.
            BTW, is it Police tunic?

Good catch, indeed it started life as a (completely stripped) Pol. tunic... I figured why not? I already own a good Pol. combat tunic and many foreign SchuMa troops transferred to Waffen SS in 44-45 like the "Pol.Bat. Riga" in the Baltics and uniform supplies could have been tricky, like in the cut off Narva pocket....
Look at the Pol.backing material used on this patch:
              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...highlight=riga

I actually have photographic proof that it indeed happened, pictures of uniforms shown with ss insignia and pleated breast pockets and unpleated skirt pockets... That's a Pol. pattern obviously! The color of the uniforms is not clear of course in these period B&W pictures...
So "make do with what you have..." me as a collector/restorer and same goes for the troops in the field, back in those desperate times, fighting for survival!

The tab is good and agreed its officer grade, but without silver piping also correct for NCO's... Perhaps a little too flashy for enlisted, as depicted here... but looks cool and if they could get there hands on one why not? Like Latvian volunteers with metal runes!
Thanks for the comments on my restoration project!
              Nick
