Hi Luc,

I like the second tab. It resembles one I have (ex- Gary W collection).
Mine is silvergrey thread on Doeskin-like backing.

Actually yours is on a badge cloth backing (felt), The 1st tab is a old fake and not a very good one by today's standards

Luc the last tab is the best, I like it and I have the same on a tunic of mine
Sorry but from materials and construction I don't like other two.

Hi Gary,

Are you sure that this material is badge cloth? There is some light difference with the material commonly named "felt" or "badge cloth".
When you still had this tab in your collection, you discribed it as Doeskin-wool backing as well.
Here is a photo of one of my print-outs of an old (and already removed) topic...

I won't discuss the correct name of the actual material here, but it seems that there is often no real concensus on the nomination of some of the backing materials of these collar tabs

It is on badge cloth which is a felted cloth not doeskin wool which is woven, the appearance of both to the eye is the same but badge cloth is not woven, so I was incorrect in the description in that thread above but as I remember i was writing the description from a group photo of tabs in a riker mount
