            Hello Anders,

I cannot tell from your photos. My eyes are getting old, but it looks like an Assmann eagle with some damage to the beak.

I have attached photos of original Assmann eagles for your comparison.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

These zinc Assmann eagles are very prone to zincpest, an oxidation of the sinc. They will often exhibit raised corrosion and deposits of white zinc oxide. They are also prone to cracking.

They have three brass pins, which come to sharp points.
I am sure there are fakes of every type of eagle, so make close comparisons.

                      Measurement:

                      Wingspan: 69.50 mm

                      Height: 31.77 mm

                      Weight: 6.30 grams

As Chris said, the eagle which started this thread is a fake. This fake was previously found having flat pins with round bases like the one below. As you can see, there are many distinct features which are identical between this one and the one above which differ significantly from the original unmarked Assmann eagles they are attempting to replicate (head shape, eye, neck feathers, breast feathers, feet, and wing tip shape, to name a few of the more obvious ones). It appears that the faker has switched to round pins without bases to more closely resemble those used on the original. Nonetheless, the other characteristics give this one away for what it is, an obvious reproduction.

Assmann also made zinc eagles with flat brass pins without bases. However, I believe these were only used on their 155/42 marked birds.

Thank you for the additional information, Brad. I am not to many shows any more and do not get many opportunities to see the laterst fakes.

Chris has eagle eyes, as usual!

                            Keep up the good work!!!!
