I just walked past the Feldherrnhalle yesterday evening and there was a big exhibition right in front of the monument.....celebrating 60 years of the foundation of the State of Israel.

Star of David Flags everywhere!

Of all places.............the Feldherrnhalle.

There was also a big police contingent there. I wonder why?

Talk about rubbing it in...............

Just a sign of the times, I suppose.

In a similar vein, I was at the Walhalla at Regensburg today (fantastic views) and the latest addition to the pantheon of ´Germanic heroes´is Sophie Scholl!!!

These are just statements of fact......nothing else.

More sticks in the eyes to the elderly vets left, and more politically correct self-flagillation by the German government.
Oh when oh when are they going to get over it and differentiate the sacrifices made by the armed forces when called upon by their nation's government, and the mistakes made by the government itself.
In the USA, it took us about 20 years to separate our soldiers doing their duty in Vietnam and the government's mistake of putting them in harm's way for that war. (Although I do acknowledge the thought that VN was necessary as far as the world picture at the time.)

The German population and their country came out very well after losing two world wars in one century I should think.
A few star of David flags wouldn't hurt them.
What would have been the fate of the populations in the area's under there control, today?.....
And on oure national monuments?
Swastika flags on the line hill monument in Waterloo perhaps.....

And I agree political correctness is a pest also in Belgium.

But not the east German territories and Prussia! They went trough hell from 1944 and the early post war years, infact until the iron curtain fell in 1989. Still its very bad in many areas today in former DDR.

Well, I will not inflame the topic any further but its for sure a strange situation in Germany today and one might wonder for how long they must show this kind of political corectness.

And lastly I agree with others that political correctness stinks!

All this showboating by the Jews is going to haunt them some day. They will see another holocaust. It will be in the form of a mushroom cloud launched out of one of Middle Eastern counties like Iran or Syria. Germany - The German Minister of Defense Herr Sharping has forbidden German soldiers any contact with the Ordensgemeinschaft der Ritterkreuztr******228;ger (OdR or Society of Knight's Cross Holders). This despite the fact that 674 Ritterkreuztr******228;ger along with thousands of other Wehrmacht veterans helped rebuild and served in the German Bundeswehr. There are many Bundeswehr men and officers that attend reunion in uniform while off duty or no longer in active service. The chairperson of the Military Counsel, Claire Marienfeld, has criticized the Bundeswehr by saying that it is not 'keeping a distance' from veterans of the Wehrmacht as has been ordered. ("Die gebotene Distanz zur deutschen Wehrmacht werde nicht immer und ******252;berall eingehalten"). In a few Kaserne there are still exhibits of uniforms, awards and tactical maps from the war can be found. At the same time a renewed discussion about the naming of German military barracks (Kaserne) is taking place. The Dietl Kaserne (Generaloberst d. Gebirgsj******228;ger Eduard Dietl) in F******252;ssen, Bavaria was renamed along with a number of other barracks graced with the names of Wehrmacht soldiers or European battlefields such as Cambrai. Soon all the names of Kasernen in Germany will be reviewed for eventual renaming. Scharping has suggested giving German military bases the names of foreign personalities such as Winston Churchill. A potential exists for the Deutsche Marine destroyers M******246;lders and Rommel and even the Luftwaffe's squadrons Richtofen, Immelmann and B******246;lke to also be renamed. Another Kaserne that was recently renamed is the Generaloberst G******252;nther R******252;del Kaserne in Rendsburg. In a ceremony renamed this facility Feldwebel Anton Schmid Kaserne. Fw. Schmid, born in Austria, was executed on 13. April 1942 for sheltering Jewish Latvians and providing them with falsified documents and weapons. R******252;del on the other hand was one of the architects of Germany's air defense and was never linked to any war crimes although he was made a honorary member of Germany's Volksgerichtshof (People's Court). According to Scharping, R******252;del was connected to the death sentences resulting from the 20. July 1944 attempt on Hitler's life. A former commander of the Kaserne, Freiherr Hans von Falkenhausen refused to attend the renaming ceremony. It may seem absurd but even the Kasernen named after Generalfeldmarschall Erwin Rommel will at some time be renamed. Herr Scharping suggested that some German Kasernen be renamed Churchill or even Roosevelt.

Learning to live with your cultural past is difficult, it is so for every civilized country.
In Belgium we have the king Leopold II - Congo affair still not settled, these are crimes comited more then 100 years ago and the still the give problems in the present day.
So what would you expect for the holocaust or other German warcrimes? This is only about 65 years ago.
I presume in the USA the slavery issue also gives some of these type of problems?
Political correctness doesn't help neither but is a fact where we have to live with.
And in the end two wrongs don't make a right.
