What is a good ballpark price for a green bevo SS cap skull, that is uniform removed? It was sewn in a square block to the hat. Assuming no damage (and that it's real), what do these sell for? I found a few PORs on line - anybody know the market well enough to venture a stab? I appreciate the help! s/f Robert

I think $1000 would be a great price for an unissued piece, but I think you would have a tough time finding one for that amount.
A cap-removed piece is another story. Personally, I would expect to pay a great deal more for one which truly appeared to have been period-used, and not simply liberated from a factory or warehouse after the war. I collect pieces of military history, not textile production history. That being said, it would not take a great deal to transform an unissued piece into a convincingly "salty" one.

Szymon in Poland, the first website referenced, has been the source of quite a few of these and every one that I've looked at are 100% authentic. Mike Beaver bought his from Szymon and sent it to several known collectors that had original ones for comparison. Szymon actually had a pair of these still connected together, as on the same roll. You'll play hell though trying to find matching eagles, and the autumn insignia is even tougher to find. Prices for these, like the rest of SS insignia, is just going to keep escalating. But this is truly rare insignia!
