SS Shoulderboard Question

Gentlemen: I have a question--when it comes to straps for Heer panzer wraps, esp. with pink or recce piping, how does one differentiate them from SS straps?

I know anything and everything occured (I've seen WSS guys with Heer straps, SS guys with Heer breast eagles on both the sleeve and one pic with it on the breast, NCOs with tresse on the collar but not on the straps, tresse on the straps but not on the collar, etc.), but are there any general rules on the contruction of such Heer panzer straps vs. SS straps with pink or recce piping?

The straps above have black tops, of course, but the tongues appear tapered in a Heer pattern or?

if u go on the heer straps section u can see the difference that at the back of heer panzer they are black as well compare this to the one u posted

hmm..

Many thanks, Lelez, but I have seen SS straps with black undersides as well...are these more common to Heer?

When i first started collecting I was told that SS Straps had field grey backing on the underside, and Army straps had black backing on the underside. Many years later after handling many SS straps, I realized that this is untrue, while the majority of SS straps have field grey underneath, quite a large percentage of the SS straps I have handled have had black on the underside.
