Heres one of my pair of good ones. Anyone know how many makers of these existed? I dont seem to see many variants of these......btw I think the one that started this thread are made by 1944 in NJ......
I would assume there were many makers of these. I have seen quite a few different types. The one I posted above is just another with a slight variation to the embroidery than any others I have seen. I guess we will never know just how many companies were pumping these things out.
Kameraden,
Just how plentiful are original LAH cyphers? I've never seen a pair for sale on any collectors site or at any show. If I did see them, I'd be scared as hell to buy them any way. I must admitt, the one that RD Rygaard posted is the nicest example I have ever seen! The stitching and lettering is perfect and the chain stitching on the top and bottom is very very nice.
Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know that there are more LAH embroidered cyphers out there, than what you think. They just are in collections and you have to wait until someone decides to sell any. Last years SOS there were two original sets for sale. I believe that Joe Pankowski had a set that he was wanting $700-$800(just the slip-on cyphers). Also, Bill Shea had three singles on the boards from John Donovan's collection and he was asking $1,500.00 each and I believe that they are all sold now. This years SOS(2007) I just missed an original metal one with prongs, which sold for $700.00 and the guy was only two rows over from my table. Another well known helmet collector showed me a very nice salty used pair with the panzer boards at the 2007 show as well. I personally have two complete sets and seven singles in my collection, so I am sure that there are other collectors out there that have multiples in their collection as well. I sold one just like Richard's pictured above about a year and half ago for $625. and it went to Europe. The piont that I am making, is that ,they are out there. What you may have to pay for a set or single is up to you.
Hello Grant, this is your LAH single slip!
I am happy with this ,but I am looking for another one. Now is hard to find a similar(with stitched edges) matched one.
Regards.
Georg
Hi Georg,
Can you please post a detailed picture of the Lah strap?
The silver tresse seams to be a postwar DDR model, with elongated diamonds....maybe I'm wrong.
Thankyou

Hi Georg,
This IMO the correct size of the diamonds in the silver tresse of the war time...but Maybe I'm wrong...
The strap is SURE original, but with post war applied silver tresse IMO..I'm sorry, I hope to be wrong.
Thankyou By Lorenz
