Glenn/"Feldwebl" raised doubts about this tunic first; after seeing "it on the period picture" I was blindly believing in it.

Which simply puts it back in the same category as many, if not most, of the genuine tunics in circulation now: an original tunic with original insignia but not necessarily applied during the war. Without rock-solid provenance you cannot be sure.

This is why its so difficult to sell one becasue so many are out there of this type. You dont know what your buying and when you do you just have to be happy about what you get and hope that eagle shadow doesnt show too much or that nothing glows..a sad reality.

My hats off to Kieth for his honesty another rare commodity in this field.

I am absolute agree, it's not the same tunic than the photo. there are several diferences.

The right collar point is pushed under the left tunic flap in the original photo. As a result the left tunic flap bulges out slightly pulling it away from the right pocket. I had to add this observation. Cheers!

It's not the same tunic, it's obvious.
The period pic is interesting: I don't know SS-Oberjunker Franz Rodig of SS-Regiment DER FUHRER, but did he was awarded during the same period (about 2 days...) EK2 and EK 1? After earning so many awards?

I was just viewing Keith's web site, and it looks like the insignia was removed from the Rodig tunic and relisted for sale.

I applaud this man for his honesty, which is more that can be said for many, a rare commodity in today's market of sharks.

found it also interesting, looks like he was awarded the EK2 and the Russian Front within the 24hrs the photo was taken as they are both hanging by their awarded ribbons, yet the EK1 is not, it's already pinned on the tunic. Odd photo.

He may have just wanted to have a photo with his Iron Cross 2nd Class and slipped it over the ribbon, for the photo.

I agree notice also the russian front medal hanging from the pocket, obviously all done for the photo and not a reflection on when the awards were issued, in fact in the thread about the Croatian sleeve shield on this forum at the moment you can see something similar where it looks like the russian front medal has been pinned to the ribbon bar and hung from the breat pocket pocket.
                          cheers
