How can a person wearing this jacket change the size and scallop of the pocket flaps? (thanks for the picture BNZ42)

Come on guy's,some of you are just making excuses. This kind of monkey business has been going on for decades, don't be blind to it.

$15K USD is a lot of bread for a Heer cut jacket with SS insignia applied post war.

The old “find a picture and create a tunic to match” trick. Don’t be blind guys the scallops are surely from two different tunics.

A question a bit independant from the controversy around this tunic,

Was there any chance that in the mid or late stages of the war some army cut tunics were issued with SS insignias?

I remember reading a post in which a photo of a latvian volunteer surfaced with an army cut tunic with SS insignias?

Please bear with me as I am new to cloth Waffen SS collecting and are very eager to learn.

If this tunics ever apeared during the war I understand they were the exception, maybe of a volunteer first incorporated to the Heer and later to the SS perhaps? Like a Walloon or Spanish volunteer maybe?

I apreciate your sharing of knowladge

The interesting thing is that the tunic in question was intentionally set up to look like the one in the pic with officers candidate boards, award loops, etc. The next question is the who did it, dealer or previous owners(s)? This is one that could pass by a dealer who didn't spend all day examining it.

Fortunately there was no poor buyer, I withdrew tunic several days ago when a prospective customer expressed concern over the tunic. So all has ended well except for the poor consignee, who unfortunately cant return the tunic to the dealer he originally bought it of!!

Strange thing about this tunic is the insignia, I've spent ages looking at the photograph with a magnifying glass and the insignia in the photograph is definately the insignia on the tunic??? and the tunic is also a genuine piece, with correctly applied award loops and a beautifully applied officer quality collar..But after putting the tunic on a manniquin and looking at angles I must go along with the general concensus that the tunic is not the one in the photo..

                        Kind Regards Keith

My hats off to you, and bnz. 42. At least the tunic was examined on a torso so the discrepancies could be confirmed by the seller. And that's all I was saying, as I think that angles and light can certainly play into, perhaps making the wrong judgments based solely on measures that taken in one state vs. another, but as you so noted Keith you made your judgment after viewing the tunic on a mannequin torso. <o></o>
