    WSS NCO officer canidate tunic ... what a BEAUTY!!!!

    Did anyone else see the recent WSS NCO officer canidate tunic that sold on lastreich's website? It was a stunning beauty and attributed to SS-Oberjunker Franz Rodig of SS-Regiment DER FUHRER. Did a member of our forum purchase this one? WOW!

    Anybody know the history of this tunic? Where's its been since the war? When it was acquired and from whom?

        Notice the rank strip on the collar tab is a piece of cufftitle edging!

                I hate to rain on everyones parade but myself and a few other collectors DO NOT believe this is the jacket pictured in the period photo.

                Here is a comparison photo.....Any thoughts?

                  Agreed. I had some doubts that the uniform was the same myself based on comparison to the photo posted.

                    I find it matches the photo very well. Look at where the piping on the rune tab meet, it bulges a bit, it's shown on the picture and the tunic, the pointed collar is the same too, even though the runes seem like they may have been shifted over. The loops for the ek2 could make it that low in the picture if it had a bit of loosening allowing it to hang. IMO it's the same, to each his own I suppose!

                      Really? I think it is rather obvious that it is not the same. Have a good look at the pocket flaps

                        100% put-together tunic, compare the distance between the right breast pocket and skirt edge. Poor buyer, I am sure he paid extra for that period picture.

                          Can you make your comparison picture larger? It's kinda hard to see all the detail you are tying to point out.

                          After looking at your efforts and the picture your making comparisons to, I think your logic is flawed. First, cloth is flexible. How can you make measurments on a tunic that is layed out flat on a surface with the tunic that is on the body of a man? I laid out a tunic and got thet same effect, i.e., less material showing then when it it displayed on a torso.

                            I totally agree with the above. Put the tunic on a torso form the same size and shape as the bloke in the pic, and I'll bet you could do a little shifting and tugging to make it identical...its all about how it sits on the wearer, if its been cleaned and pressed since the war, etc. etc....I think they could well be the same one...

                              Well, I did not want to be the one to bust up the good time either, but since somebody already did, it is 100% put together. You want a complete untouched SS tunic? Go chase a Ghost, you will have more luck!
