Another fake cap??

About 30-35 years ago I bought a cap with "totenkopf and edelweiss" attached, at a Virginia flea market, for a few dollars. I assume this is a quite old fake. Is anyone familiar with it? Thanks.

I can't comment the Edelweiss, but the skull is pure fantasy.

Probably an early post-war West German Gebirgsjager cap with bad insignia.
