    Question regarding Degrelle, Narva 1944

I've been looking through some books with various pictures of L******233;on Degrelle during the Narva battles in Estonia, summer 1944. It seems that he was wearing the M44 camo uniform, along with an SS officers belt and officers tall boots, but one thing puzzles me though. In one pic(with J******252;rgen Wagner, Degrelle and Ustuf. Sch******228;fer) from the book "Tragedy of the faithful" it really looks like Degrelle is wearing a schiffchen made out of M44 dot camo. Is this correct or is it just wishful thinking?

I think someone mentioned it on this forum in another thread about Degrelle...

Anyway, if someone know, please help.

    Hi
There seems like he does wear overseas cap in dot. But these pictures were taken in southern Estonia front (near city Tartu), after the battles of Narva.
    As far as I know.

    Cheers
    K.

Yes its a custom made overseas cap constructed out of DOT camo material, matching Degrelle's uniform. This is why I am not against displaying dot camo M-43 caps either, often critizised as never existed.... Yes I agree such items were never officially produced, but its just another example of field-tailor made pieces... and also in the Wehrmacht in happens: I have seen period pictures of Wehrmacht officers wearing "schiffchen" side caps (overseas caps) made of splinter camo! Looks like grains/shadows on the photo to me, not a camo cap.

                It's silver/white piped...........surely they wouldn't have put piping on a custom camo.

dot camo side cap with officer's piping

YES Degrelle is wearing a custom made DOT camo overseas cap with officers silver piping matching his uniform while at the Narwa Front.Correct!
Here is a much clearer picture, you can clearly see the pea pattern camo!
Any doubt can now be erased!

                    CLOSE UP!
Like I mentioned earlier in this thread, I have even seen period images of Heer officers with side caps in splinter camo + officers silver piping
and I have posted in the past an image on WAF of an officers side cap made in green leather!
Its all possible! You have to be open minded, officers could get away with such variations, which were custom tailor made or field made by the unit tailor. I am also open minded about the use of dot pattern camo visored field caps, which officially did not exist as issue pieces, but certainly could have been fabricated like Degrelle's spotted overseas cap as illustrated here!

Correct! I have seen that picture before, but of much better quality. The sidecap is made of dot-pattern camouflage cloth. No doubt.

Yes it appears to be a dot camo overseas cap! Just fantastic!

Why are the dots, in the pattern, going over the insignia?
