Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

Here are 3 more. One was attached on a fake schiffen that was on sale some time ago.
And other two was dug up a little while ago in southern Estonia (not from the grave). The owner broke these while washing them.

To Sturmann: Do you have any documentary confirmation that such sculls were produced in Tartu?
        _______________

Well, I think the pictures speaks for them selfs. There are also several other threads about them. And they are being worn in period pictures. What more do you want?

Do you have some proof they where not made?

              Nick.
IMO the description was "Norwegian/Swedish? made set?" I saw it also in one dealers site. Cant remember though, where.

Here`s another picture of "Tartu" insignias in wear. Its taken probably after the 45th. reg. arrived in Tartu and prepared to go Mehikoorma front (lake Peipus) where Red Army had breached. Man is wearing Tartu made eagle also.

One example of the eagle again. Not from my collection though.

Heres another 2 shots. Note the Tartu eagle is smaller than regular German ones.
                K.

And the visorhat looks to me custom made, I have one Wehrmacht medical service, which is field made or a bad taylor. But for sure from the old farm's attic- found in South Estonia.
Haust has a one earlier type which was made by order of Estn SS Frw Brigade, as I wrote before in the previous posts, that the sculls was made in Estonia- due of bad supply with such insignia. The metal insignia and visorhats is not an standart uniform- they were bought by soldiers in the shops. As you can see in different pictures- the units who came from Debica and B Toelz- fully equipped. From the Klooga were later stay 33 Rgt( partly- former 186 Estn Sich Gr) - bad, supply

Very interesting! You are fortunate to have wartime photos to proove. There are still very much to be explored in this area (3rd Reich militaria). Thank God there are still people with fantasy, who dare to go outside the textbook!

Better shot of the previous two posted. These 3 were found together and belonged to a Estonian SD unit that was annihilated in Tartu front.

I've seen that insignia on the M43 designed cap, after they was found in the attic together with the shown m40 cap. The cap is not a fully fake, there was lost liner and threads due of wet attic. The m43 cap was found with this (currently on the M40)officers type hand embroidered Wehrmacht eagle and was attached to the left side of the cap, and the scull was attached over the BeVo scull, unfortunately BeVo scull was hardly damaged due of rust from attached Estonian scull. The items was incredible and with authentic look. The price was incredible for them- for both caps 1500 eur, just for history- a bit high price. After that the owner try to restore it- but the final price was down,
IMHO, that kind of restoring is the same as the make a new repro.
