Sorry Jody. Just a typing error. Sorry to hear about your health problems. I was just pulling your chain a bit, that's all. What's the matter? Nothing wrong with vet buys, by the way. Except when they sell you fakes. Conmen grow old too, you know.

      Regards,

      Prosper

        Hi Prosper,
I apologize for coming off as a jerk. Humor is not a one way street with me. Today is just not a good day. I am not at work today nor will I be on friday(follow up appointment) because I have a 3:30pm appointment with a new neurologist. I have just been a bundle of nerves lately. I am afraid they may have to operate or something, because my medication is not working.

I do appreciate your oppinion. By the way, private e-mail me and I will tell you how I developed this-it is bizarre.
        Best Regards,
        Jody

hi, Jody sorry for your kid's health problems. but i'd really like to see the SS band stretched apart so we can see how it's put together. because that could settle the BS on the item, because we could see if it's post war or ww2 item. buy how it's made. just a thought again. greg k

No problem Jody. I guess I shouldn't have jerked your chain. I was just teasing you. I'll have edited the post as a goodwill gesture by the time you see this.

                    Before Dirlewanger

You have stumbled upon a little known historical fact, just where was John Dillinger during the War? Quite obviously in the SS serving under his real name, Johannes Dillinger. All that Bank robbing was funding NAZIS!

...someone said " captured items from an SS Officer ", i would say looted because that is exactly what it is, Russians did the same thing, my my, where would all your collections be today if history took a different turn in 1945, that would be something , no offence please !!!

Looks more like Dillinger's long lost "special" brother serving for the Reich !! with a sweet hair doo..

I would like to see more of this wrist watch.. pretty interesting.

                          .

Its not unheard of for men to find Religion after surviving a War or seeing these horrible things. I gave an old silver pocket watch to a Padre overseas when I was in the Army that was given to me by a local while i was there in the Former Yugo. It was found under a bridge in his home town during Demining where the Enemy paramilitaries had according to him been making local civilians both very young and old jump over the side and then shot them as they landed and broke their bones or tried to limp or swim away. I just did not want to keep that! I figured the best place for an item like that would be with the old Padre for his use.

                          Pete

Doc, would you tell us more about this?

Jacques, very nice picture, any story about it? Looks the very same watch to me.
The image is very sharp, a proper close up would tell us for sure.

                                SS Watch

                                Hello,
It is nice to see old threads re-surface and it is bitter sweet for me to see Tony Barto (a friend) in this thread.

Here are new scans of my watch and I love the photo that Jacques posted. It does look like my watch.

                                Regards,
