    SS Ustuf in Colour

    Here's a nice picture I found on a German site. It has been hand-coloured, as was common in the 1940s.

    Of note are:

    The army eagle on the cap;
    The SS-TK collar tab skull on the cap;
    The POLICE sword with SS knot; and
    The HJ Leader's Sports Badge.

    Quite nice, I thought.

    From his decorations, it looks like he was an experienced NCO, promoted to officer.

    Very interesting picture, Robin. Thanks for posting it.

    The TK and Army eagle on the visor are very strange indeed! I don't know if it is from the coloration process, but check out the wear on the wound badge. Here's another one in wear with lots of... well, wear.

    Just goes to show you that there can always be an exception to just about any rule (providing the image hasn't been photo-chopped )

      Yes, Robin, that is a very interesting picture--for the color and the details! I've actually never seen that many badges worn that way (in that configuration) before in any other picture. Is he wearing two wound badges? It appears that there is a wound badge in silver worn beneath another one above it. I just want to make sure I'm seeing that correctly.

        The wound badge is above a DRL sports badge.

          Very nice picture

          Maybe he only put all the badges on for the picture. Or they were simply added to the pic by the hand of the artist while actually not in wear.
          (EK 1 looks so).

            Nice picture, Ive encountered tunics with holes punched through for extra badges near the loops my thoughts were that this was for photographing or the result of a pinning on during a ceremony.

              Okay, thanks for the clarification on the Sports Badge. It just looked like another wound badge on my first viewing.

                  Great photo! I think he's wearing WH cap eagle too.

                    Which is clearly said in the first post...

                      I agree. The EK1 looks 'funny'
