Can anyone please explain to me how the "old warrior chevron" on the ss tunic worked. Who qualified, was it similar to a rank chevron, was it worn by all ranks e/m to officer? Jacques

It was for those ss members (EM/NCO and officers) who had a ss membership number of 50.000 or lower or for ss men that were members of the NSDAP before 01.01.1933.
These men were considered as "old fighters".
Hope this helps.

Alte Kampfer Winkel
Yes, it was worn on the upper right arm, but the chevron varied depending on the branch. You had variations for the following:
NSFK
SA
Polizei
Allgemine SS
Waffen SS
Additionally, a Chevron w/ pip was added in July 1935 for members of the SS who had been former members of the Military / Polizei before 30 Janauary 1933.
Basically it was 1 cm braid, stitched directly to the uniform or affixed to a matching piece of cloth.
Hope that helps,
Andrew

SS Ehrenwinkel "Old Fighters" chevron
Was the Ehrenwinkel worn on the upper left sleeve? I have seen some period photos with a LW member wearing chevrons on their left sleeve? Was the negative reversed?
I am also wondering what the significance of two chevrons is?
Thanks for the info in advance! Always wondered about these!
