    ss wrap

Thanks for all the positive comments and thanks to Gary. You confirmed my smell and touch. I've been collecting for years, if this piece turned out to be doubious it would have been the time for me to stop. Age is hard to copy, maybe the hardest.

            Hi Bucatar,

Overall I like many of the qualities your wrap displays. You don't see a lot of fake wrappers that have shoulder loops with the bias material in them. If possible I have some areas that might require more photos since you have posted some nice ones. Please show more close-ups if you have them available.

A clear shot of the bias material that can been seen below the shoulder by pulling the liner top end open.

An outside shot of the cuff stitching on the side of the opening where the buttonhole is inside. It appears to be in a box shape instead of the preferred angle stitch. Not impossible, but seldom seen.

The adjustment tape tunnels appear to be rather far from the lining edge. This is probably fine if its a larger sized jacket, you don't usually see that on the typical sized German panzerman. Perhaps they just differ between manufacturers.

Thanks for sharing and your wrap will probably turn out to be fine.

            Richard P

                Hello friends,
I personally dont like this black wrapper, the lining is silk IMO and not rajon, also the form of the neck it'isnt the tipe on wrappers midwar/latewar and I never saw a metal hook in brass on a wrapper of midwar/latewar.
I dont like also the back side of the neck, the reinforce sewn...
I'm sorry, IMO just a copy.

                    Bucatar,

Are we going to get those additional pictures requested? There are some very different opinions and I think clear close-up photos might help swing it one way or the other. Lorenz, did you happen to see this in person? I know you are very experienced with wraps, so I'm just curious if you did a "hands on" as that carries a lot more weight.

                      Hello,
thanks for the comments. I'm still unable to post pictures, Richard if you can help me with this, i will send them to You via e-mail.
Lorenz, the hooks are made of steel. How can you tell if the lining is rayon or silk, what should I look for?

                        Bucatar,
in the picture number 10, the color of the metal hoock look like brass, maybe is the picture, I dont know, but look light gold ..
In the same picture the size of the neck look like a normal tunic neck, or overcoat, the panzer wrappers necks, green or black are more large, we can notice this also in the picture of the back side of the neck.
We can see a front picture of the wrapper?
The lining look like silk, instead rajon, IMO, for my knowledge, but sure more pictures can help, maybe I can be wrong.
A collector with experience in cloth can see with handinspection if the lining is rajon or silk, better a comparation with an original rajon cloth.
                        Lorenz

With this neck? this wool? I'm sorry, not original IMO.

                            ss wrap

It looks good from the pics but was wondering about the material also. Is it smooth because of the wear or because of type of material? Most SS wraps I have come across be they black or fieldgrey are made of a much coarser wool than Heer ones. Especially later in the war. Just a thought

Well, I think that "Mr. Lorenz" has contributed to this forum a bit more than some other members.

Me personally I would always listen to his opinion. Is he right all the time? No! Am I right all the time? No! Do I like this wrapper? No!

Can you think whatever you want? Yes!

Please feel free to like this wrapper and ignore "Mr. Lorenz's" opinion and listen to those that like it instead!

                              Cheers

                              Fritz
