As far as I know the italian wool originated from italy...I don't know if the italians used human hair to make the wool...But I highly doubt that idea.

The first run of italian wool came with a lot of other material (camo, tropical, linings etc.) that was seized by the germans when italy "deserted the axis".

The deliveries of italian wool (and other materials) later in the war were organized by some german agents that bought these items on the italian black market(s)...Also some Gauleiter bought there to equip "their" Volkssturm units with something like a uniform.

Was human hair used to produce german wool ss uniforms? I doubt that. But it's true that we don't know what was really going on.

        Cheers

the rolls of cloth made from human hair in auschwitz just looked like cloth to me at 1st glance but if you looked very close you could just see hairs sticking out at edges the guide said the hair was shipped out of auschwitz then turned into these rolls of cloth and then turned into uniforms ,bedding etc if i hadnt been told it was made from human hair i would never have known

Eh, Actually the soap thing has been proven to be a crock.

Hair was used but weather it is human or not would require scientific testing. If you check the tube of re-enforcement/padding about the inner shoulder of panzer wrappers for example it is quite common to find hair used as the filler. Also if one takes a thread sample from a 44 HBT and magnifies it 20 to 30 times the constituent fibres are quite plain to see. Amongst the linnen, cotton, wood pulp etc one finds hair. Again human or animal I cannot comment but hair none the less.

              Yours, Guy.

Starting from the fact that this is not a political forum and then we are not interested in nazi barbary but in uniforms, I would say that If you claim any controversial historycal fact you need to prove it with documents and detailed infos.
If you would like to expose your sources here we are...(Mtv sources are not allowed)

                    Hi Drapeau Noir,
you're right, I just forgot it was only a matter of uniform and not a political question that was asked, I do apoligize for that, don't have any evidence or proof of nothing...but when you talk about SS uniforms, you can't avoid talking about politics as they were volunteers politics soldiers for a specific regime. Is your nickname a reference to the XVIIIth century pirats or to the Waffen SS ?
                    ciao!

What you say here is not correct. There have been so many man that were forced by this regime into the ss units. The SS WAS NOT a pure volunteer organization, although many people believe it was.

                            I lelez,
yes, I think yes, I examinated a lot of "italian" wool SS M43/44 tunics in mint condition and I noticed very well this.
Also almost all of this tunics were constructed in the KZ lager.
The tunic called in "italian" wool werent really in italian wool, yes is very similar at the italian wool, but IMO werent really italian wool, not all for sure.
In the M43 era the woll lost very much his high quality and also the color were changed.
Like rud and color it's similar at the italian wool, but it's different, and have sometime also the Human hair, you cannt found this detail in the real italian wool, also if in the and of the war.
yes, naturally also the italian wool were used, for exemple the italian lining were used very much, like the italian gabardine that were of fine quality.
But IMO the majority of the M43 SS constructed in the M43/44 are in German wool very similar at the italian wool with humar hair...you can notice this on Mint M43 tunic...if you examine with attention you can found this hair..naturally colored..but you cannt be wrong.. ..unfortunately....this naturally IMO.
                            I Hope this can help.

If you search the internet you will find that humain hair is considered as not usable for producing clothing as it is much too thick.

                              True? I don't know.
