SS-VT Overseas Cap Skull Button

I bought this button when I was a kid, from the 1976 Unique Imports catalog, for the lofty sum of $9.95, and I've often wondered if it was original.

I recently found that PvL has an example listed for sale on his site that appears to be identical to mine.

I was only able to find one other thread on the forum which appears to show a similar example:

I'd be grateful for any opinions as to the authenticity of my example presented below.

Thanks very much guys, for your input...that's nice to know! Actually I'm quite astonished at the high prices these buttons now seem to command (or at least the high 'asking' prices, anyway). Actually, when I originally received the item way back when, I was a bit disappointed, because I was expecting it to be a visor cap skull! Thirty years later, I think I'm now satisfied!
