    wss tk....??????

    Hi to everyone,
Really I'm very confused.....could you give me a hand in understanding about these wss tk?
First of all sorry if I use pics taken from other threads and books
without "written permission" but I make you sure it's only to comparate and try to understand:
    1) first pic taken from "a collector's guide to: the waffen SS" by
Robin Lumsden - The tk has the right vertical socket rather than horizontal so is considered a reproduction like
    2) second pic (from another thread) posted by Gary Wood, who confirms that it's a fake.
3-4)Third and fourth pics taken from "The Collector's Guide to Cloth third Reich Military Headgear" by Gary Wilkins (wonderful book!!!) pag. 26, the TK you'll find on the WSS M40 overseas cap,
(Courtesy of Bill Shea - IMO great dealer) looks like the other ones
    5) This is a my TK from an officer overseas cap (bullion) that is like the former TKs........
So pls help me in understanding....which is the difference ?
Tkank you so much for every input you'll be able to give me ...
    Regards
    Giorgio

              Hi Giorgio;

I guess I'm having a difficult time understanding where your confusion is coming from. The TK's that you posted are all identical to the first one you posted and I mean identical in every respect.
              Best regards,

              Tony

                Droopy Left Eye Cloth Skull

                Hi Georgio,

I agree with Gary. IMO the skulls shown above are reproductions. I will show some photos below. Your photo #5 - the skull does not appear to be an officers flat wire. Notice the very loose weave.

This is one of the most faked skulls in both EM and officers. However, I do believe I have seen two or three original flat wire versions. One belongs to noted SS collector Bob Hritz and is on an overseas cap. The other cap recently changed hands, but is a very worn example and is on an overseas cap. Note the much tighter and traditional flatwire type weave. There are several weaves on the different types of flat wires.

I would say 99% of the ones you see in this style are reprodcutions.

                Regards,

                Paul

                  Droopy

Here is the example of what I feel is an original flat wire droopy left eyse skull.

                      Fake

Here is one of the common fake flat wires of this style.

                          Fake EM

Here is a fake EM version I have. I also collect reproduction skulls to study.

Hi, first of all thank you to everyone for your kindly answers and opinions......
I was confused 'cause I thought that the overseas cap (Bill Shea) of Gary Wilkins'book was for sure an original.......while is a reproduction as well......if I have well understood.....
and then I thought that the vertical eye socket was "always" a fake.....while THERE ARE ORIGINALS like that (ultra rare but they do exist!)....Have I well understood?
I hope to get more informations about......
                            Thank you to everyone.......
                            regards
                            Giorgio

                              droopy eye skull

Here is a pic of an original droopy eye skull that is on my FEZ. Looks different than the ones giorgio posted but still has the droopy eye.
