Thanks for your comments. Is the one you looked at a Deschler made medal? I ask as I have a P&L award and there are differences between the two.

I believe the one that I looked at was a Dreschler so there maybe differences. Somebody else want to weigh in on this?

Bob, do you have any closeups of the medal you posted? The rim and runes look too thin. The jump ring does not look correct either. And obviously, the ribbon ring is misshapen as well.

It looks a bit like this repro below.

I would like pics with better resolution of Raymond's medal. But, I don't see anything to put it in the fake category yet.

Raymond medal looks fine to me, why consider it fake
Bob maybe you compare Raymond's medal with a fake, as Curt wrote, the jump ring on the medal you posted is for sure no correct.

I just could not make my mind up about the medal when I had it in hand. The initial problem I had was that I compared it with my P&L medal which was a mistake.

After studying pretty much every thread on here, I had a better feeling about it, but wanted another opinion, as I still could not be 100%.

Raymond's medal looks fine to me.

But........one question.

How do we know which SS medals were made by Deschler and which are P&L?

I've never been able to fathom that one out, as none of them are maker marked.
