SS Officers Collar Tab Pair

Hello folks,

I'd be interested in opinions regarding these tabs. They look good to me, in all regards - but I'd like the more experienced SS collectors to weigh in if possible.

I saw them too... But I passed... How many twisted silver threads do you see on the piping? (I count 2... )

I asked the seller 3 times better pics of the backside and the piping... 3 time he kept sending me pics of the front only...

Yes, he wasn't very responsive on the emails; I got lots of duplicate photos also. I'm not sure on the number of twists on the cording, though, but the embroidery looks good and so do the other materials, particularly the backing materials IMO. However, did you see the other items he claims his father also brought back? I got the metal SS hat insignia and an enlisted sleeve eagle out of the other stuff he sent pictures out on.

Well, I certainly hope you got good photos of the of the cap insignia to determine originality before sending him any money. I, like everybody else apparently, kept asking for a better photo of the backs of the tabs, but kept getting the same photos of the fronts instead. If you notice, when he started sending the photos of the other stuff along with the tab photos, the names of the image files were all numbered sequentially, but one in the sequence was missing. Clearly, he was intentionally omitting the exact photo we were all asking for. That was no accident. I also emailed him expressing my interest in the cap insignia, but, once I asked for better photos of those too, I never got another response. I hope, for your sake, I am wrong, but this guy has crook written all over him!

No good pictures, at least none better than the ones sent to all of us. I don't sense deception, however. He has good feedback, and I called him several times using the number he listed before I commited - I believe that he did get these items from his father, who was a WWII vet. He has crappy email protocol, and lousy response time, and irregular communications, but not a crook, in my opinion. I suspect a lack of computer skills are the culprit after talking to him - he doesn't know a computer file from a pineapple.

The other items look good, from a distance, and only from the front. I can almost hear some jaded collectors chuckling over this, but sometimes you have to go with your instincts and imperfect intelligence - kind of like the military decision process. I paid a small stipend above the cost of the tabs for one RZM enlisted sleeve eagle, one metal skull, and one metal cap eagle.

His other non-SS items look good, and a typical one of these, one of those vet bring-back pile. So I took a chance, and will post the results. Thanks for the inputs, fellows.

The tabs are a good set. I saw them at the last hour before the auction closed. I put a bid on them, but I see that you won them, congrats! I could tell from the backs that they were good. The seller didn't get me a pic of the fronts until after the auction was over, but he did send me one, which I was surprised. Anyway, good score. I would be interested in the RZM ss sleeve eagle for trade or to buy if you are interested in parting with it. Regards,

Honestly I am not crazy about those tabs, but the embroidery is right as rain. Maybe I just like my stuff a little mintier and I like sharp rank prongs. Just personal preference. But hey SS Officers tabs in any condition are highly desirable. Weitze has a mothed out set of hand embroidered TK tabs that are cool.

Well, the seller just sent me these pictures of the skull and eagle, after explaining what I wanted. More to follow, but these are the pictures of two of the insignia. IMO, at least the skull is good, and nothing sets off alarms on the eagle though a better pic would have been good.
