Awesome photo, that is only the second photo I have ever seen of that collar tab being worn. And they look like such nice fellows!

Sir, Never judge the book by it's cover.

notice how its not even close in size to the Dachau made tabs..So far none of the period photos of the tab look like the same size as the Dachau produced ones,,,maybe they were never issued.

Tunic on the man on the left is interesting. No lower pockets, french cuffs, field grey collar, and upper pocket pleats.

Absolutely stunning picture! The second DW tabs picture I've ever seen in my whole life.

                  Congrats to buyer!
                  Cheers

An excellent photo indeed! There is a sequence of 6 pictures showing the 'early' pattern Dirlewanger collar patch being worn in Rolf Michaelis's 'Der Weg zur 36. Waffen-Grenadier-Division der SS' and Detlev Niemann sold what appeared to be an early pattern collar tab about five years ago for around 300 Euros. In my opinion, the well known picture of Dirlewanger troops in Warsaw during the uprising shows the Dachau type being worn. If a site member wants to pm me their email address, I can send them some scans to post here.

Just speculatively, I would suggest that the sturmmann on the left of Weitze's picture might well have been an ex-officer or SNCO: it might explain the officer pattern belt, tailored tunic and EK1.
