I believe these badges have been discussed in the past. I've got one from a vet grouping but there is no connection between these and the SS. They appear to be a generic musical organization insignia that anyone could buy and use for a private, company, or other community band.

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king.

Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can muffle the sound.

              Musician's Armelraute

              Hello Bob,
Thank you for posting your SS Musician's Armelraute for clarification.

I had seen the badge I originally posted as being included as SS musician's insignia, though for the life of me, I can't remember the publication since I have sold most of my reference books.

My armelraute was purchased through Manion's (I know, I know) and will probably not pass the Holy Water test. Nonetheless I feel I should post it so that it can be compared with others.

I will also post Dave Delich's contribution to Angolia's SS Cloth Insignia book. Additionally, another contribution, unattributed, will be included. I will post my armelraute first.

Thank you for contributing to this thread. Your opinions are always held in high esteem.

              Sincerely,

              Charles Betz

It was Arthur Hayes' book on SS uniforms, but there are problems with some of the items in the book, and the photo of the oval insignia is listed as SS with no reason, sources, or documentation that would connect it to the SS. I know they're pre45, as mine came with a small grouping of SA insignia that was straight from a vet.
