    Waffen Ss Tab Reference Book????

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A WAFFEN SS COLLAR TAB REFERENCE BOOK????? IS THERE A DEALER THAT YOU DON'T HAVE TO WORRY IF THEY ARE ORIGINAL OR NOT??? HELP??????

    Reference Book

Start with Angolia's Cloth Insignia of the SS. The Bender 5 volume series on the Waffen SS is another. Be prepared to spend some bucks. Go to militaria or gun shows and just look and ask questions. Then go home and study. Once you acquaint yourself with the genuine article, you can proceed with caution. Key in SS Collar Tabs in the search function of this forum. You have arrived at a good location, the rest is up to you.

Charles is 2000% correct you have outlay some cash on a good reference library, IMHO anyone who does not, deserves all the fakes they buy.

      cheers

If you're looking to find some of these books at a good price, I suggest:

            www.abebooks.com

I picked up Himmler's Camelot and the Angolia books as well as some Beaver there, at good prices. You can search by price and you'd be amazed at the sometimes great deals on low prices and the high ones. It searches bookstores across the globe for the books you require. Might save a couple of you some bucks and get what you find from the comfort of your armchair.

Also get to some bigger shows and get your hands on some Real ones to see and feel what they are like. Most bigger shows will have some dealers that specialize in SS or have a good inventory. There will be plenty at the Show of Shows in louisville in Feb.

You might want to try Powell's Books in Portland, Oregon at www.powells.com. It is a long time Portland institution with a large military book section as well as rare books. A few years back I found Angolia's "Cloth Insignia 0f the SS" (updated version) for only about $25.00. That's about half the price of the book when it was new! Now they start at about $125.00. Can't promise you'll find a copy or you'll find it bargain priced if you do, but it's worth a look.

I like the article in the Military Advisor magazine from R. James Bender Publishing. Web site www.bender-publishing.com. Volume 5 #2, article about Waffen-SS unit collar insignia. I'm surprised it's still available for only five bucks. It has some sweet totenkopf pictures.

I just would like to mention that even some older books (some SS cloth bibles) show sometimes repros as originals. For cloth I really can recomment the Beaver III volume edition. Take care when you start to collect this hot iron.
