Robert thank you for explaining that. The Waffen SS wore the plain silver aigulette and these were worn into combat, in fact a photo in the book "Wenn Alle Bruder Schweigen" depicts an SS adjutant killed during the invasion of the lowlands,he has his aigulettes on.

Kevins tunic is an adjutants tunic and has the small button on the shoulder to button the aigulette on.

BOB, WHY DID YOU SHOW ME THAT CAP !!??? its too perfect for this tunic! that would complete this uniform wonderfully..very nice !

so are you saying a small button on the shoulder makes it a adjutants tunic

That button could be used for an adjutants aigulette or on a dress tunic for parade dress aigulettes. On an Allgemeine tunic I would assume for an adjutant.

thanks john i have been in to minds with this question the tunic i have is a black officers tunic .that has both buttons .when i got it it was missing the tabs and shoulder board.but still had the cuff title .and diamond and arm band..

i must say you are lucky to get this one back.

That cap is tailor made, the tailor's information pressed into the interior brown leather sweatband... from Leipzig I think. The eagle is flat wire. It belongs to that same friend of mine who seems to have everything...

And yes, it would go beautifully with your tunic to complete it. My friend usually puts it with his SS-Untersturmfuhrer of Nebelwerfer lightweight tunic like yours. It looks pretty sharp all dressed up like that. Next time I go up there I'll have to ask him if I can dress it up like that and shoot some pix.
