SS Tunic

Hi Carl -

I do not feel that in any way this is an SS tunic, as you have pointed out. You are well aware the fakers out there will put multiple "SS" stamps all over their fakes to make them seem more "realistic", and there are probably twenty repro tunic son eBay right now with medal loops sewn on. And if it is a late war, last ditch, recycled RAD tunic, would the cufftitle have been on there and would the owner, a new conscript, maybe, have had the time to sew medal loops on the tunic even had he won them before being ground under a T34? If the tunic has two date stamps, one saying "42", I woud expect the tunic to look like a tunic produced in 1942. This one looks nothing like any WSS or Heer tunic I have seen (I don't do RAD so I can't comment on that).

Please post some more pics of the tunic when you have a chance - we have specialists in a lot of fields onthe forum, and it it is indeed TR era, somebody will probably be able to ID it. The tabs, boards, markings and cuff title will tell a lot, as well as the stampings.

Just my $.02, and congratulations for having a wife that actually cares about your hobby. If you sank a considerable sum into the tunic, I'd sure try to get your money back. It is not what it was presented to be.

You have some good points and I think that you may be right. I'm having it repaired and once I'll get it back I'll post as many pics as I could. I'd like to know what it is.

Well I'm pretty certain you're easily amused,you're the english master so you should know what rubbish means which was in my comment.There has been an empty space since Phoef left,looks like its been filled.

Before things turned ugly in this thread, this was the point that I believe the originator and others were trying to make: the stuff can be found in outside militaria shops, and cheaply. http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=171105.
