We are losing Dr. Abenheim and Bob Coleman - please speak up!

A recent forum discussion (Complete Allgemeine SS Uniform...) has apparently resulted, through innuendo and perhaps worse, in the resignation from this forum of Dr. Abenheim and Bob Coleman, two of our most senior members. I implore the imparaging parties involved to reconsider their statements and clarify same; for everyone else, if you value the input of these esteemed members and want to be heard, this is the place. Speak up, please.

It would be sad indeed. I haven't follow that particular discussion but based on what I read from their posts and value of their inputs, it is obvious that this forum cannot afford to loose guys like them.

That would be a real shame!!! I've enjoyed Dr. Abenheims postings and eloquent style of writing immensely. Bitte bleiben Sie!!! A concerned fellow Californian, Nick

I loved and dearly miss Donald’s posts. Not only did I learn valuable information about the Third Reich but he also had me running to a thesaurus and bablefish on occasion too. Donald is a true educator.

I do hope that Donald and Bob won't let a bad experience keep them from sharing thier knowlege with us. I hope to see Bob this weekend, and I will try to talk him into coming back.

I would say to Donald here what I said in a PM if he got it. Thank you for all the help and lessons you gave me on visors. Please reconsider your decision. Best of everything to you .

I believe the issue was over a WSS General's visor. There was supposed to be a meeting of the minds/experten and the result was to have been as close to a resolution as possible on the item's authenticity. Has that been determined yet? The thread(s) was/were removed last week.

If the results are positive, hopefully they will be vindicated

Hmmm, two of the collectors which I most look up to. SS & NSDAP. Let's hope this is simply a "cooling down" period. This wouldn't be sad, it would be tragic!

Did this issue have any resolultion? Perhaps such a resolution was discussed on the other forums?

I was told of this thread by a friend and would like to thank all of you for your kind words. My loss is unimportant to this medium. In turn, Dr. Abneheim is a learned man who is a great loss to those who seek knowledge.
I do not wish to re-enter the discussion on the visor cap due to the fact at this point, it is meaningless. What is sad is the vicious attacks that were allowed to go on indefintely on this site with out the promised penalties imposed on those who were the cause. For those who read the thread, the purpose was to injure and harm first and discuss the object second. Further, only one individual's opinion was taken as gospel by the nay sayers. To those who followed that line, I would question their ability to properly judge the item. Do they even have the experience to have handled original items to back up their position? Unfortunately, an equal voice is given both to the learned and the uninformed. it is sad that bad thread such as the one on this hat put blood in the water which attracts the sharks who are more interested in demeaning than learning.
Again, thank all of you for your support and hope to meet some of you some day at either the SOS or the Max.
                          Warmest regards,
                          Bob Coleman

Luckily, I did not follow the thread. If I had, I would have backed Bob Coleman as I know of his expertise and he is an Illinois boy. Bob and I have known each other for over 40 years and he has backed me in several discussions on this and other sites. Its a crime to let the old guard sllip away for reasons of petty bickering and poor judgement in comments and content.

Funny you should mention attracting sharks. This hobby attracts ass-holes faster than blood in the water attracts sharks. I would hope nobody is so thin skinned as to let the pompous blowhards and self expressed experts drive away the learned and the experienced among us from continuing their input here. The vast majority of us may not be the most vocal, but we can certainly recognize the experts. Please continue your most welcome input...
