my soldbuch s ex owner was 17 wen he entered SS but i wudnt ecxlude that late in the war they armed also younger ones. See the Army that in 1945 had also kids like 14 yrs old....

You could enlist in the Waffen-SS on your 17th birthday. This angerered the Wehrmacht General Staff as they lost many recruits because you had to be 18 to join the Heer, Luftwaffe or Kriegsmarine.

When you say "join the SS" do you mean as a member or as a soldier? I know that there were many Norwegian volunteers, especially in SS-JÄG.SCHI.BTL. ”NORGE” that was as young as 16.

There were also quite some Dutch volunteers who entered the Waffen-SS at the age of 16. I know of one volunteer who was only 15 when he received his medical examination.

Before the war the SS had taken the most interest in HitlerJugend, which as you all probably know was the "boy scout" type schooling. Before the war every boy was not forced to go, but many did.

Anyway, towards the end of the war after operation Overload, the HJ were put onto the field to fight. I would think, it's possible for perhaps a 16 year old to be in the SS during, maybe the Battle of Berlin. I only say this because the organization with the most interest in the lowest age group for fighting was the SS.

Maybe I'm wrong though.

Correct there were 16yrs old in norwegian skijagerbatalion. I know personally of one member. He got his parents to sign for his front duty.

Wait a minute. The only thing I would see on that link you gave is that there is a date that says: 3.4.35. Is this what you're talking about? This would make him ten or less? I'm confused. I can't read German so that paper is hard for me to read.

Some of the boys from the Danish NSU (Nationalsocialistisk ungdom or National socialist youth) was allowed to join the Waffen SS at age 16 if they were big of age. But they had to get green light from parents and also NSU leader.
