This was found last week in bavaria, close to the austrian border. Although it was obviously used by the "wrong" branch it is still a need piece. What would be a app. value for that one as I don´t collect Waffen-SS anymore? Thanks.

I assume that by "wrong branch" you mean KM. If so, you are correct that this is not a Waffen SS cap. The two caps were very similar, but not identical. Some have speculated that they were occasionally used as substitutes for one another, but, still, they were different. A couple very nice KM caps with insignia have sold recently for around $300. The overseas cap appears to be for Coastal Artillery, not Waffen-SS.

I saw a half way decent KM Coastal Artillery sell for 195..so your cap ...ehh, I dunno what somebody would use it for, except maybe a faker who wanted the material.
...or to bring a piece that is possibly "infested" with some sort of insects or larvae into his collection.
