Thanks for clearing that up guys. I was told that the insignia is fake when I bought the cap, so that was ok.
I will look out for good ones but this can take some time.

        Many thanks to all, Jens

I was in the lucky position to have this really rare and nice cap in my hands and I have no doubt at all about its originality.<O</O<O</O

This is indeed an exceptionaly rare cap, congrats Jens!
I've seen a few genuine NCO examples posted here and on other forums but never an Officers version that I thought to be real. A really fantastic find even in it's "eaten" conditon.

How wonderful to have found such a fine hat. I have dreamed of owning one for years, but this is the first one I have seen that I would want in my collection.

Condition is of little importance when thinking of such a rare hat.

I am rarely envious, but this one turns on the jealousy.

              Congratulations!!!!!

I wish to add my best wishes for a remarkable find. Sometimes all the searching in unlikely places does eventuate in an astonishing way.

Jens, just out of interest, is there any evidence that the cap had officers chincords once upon a time?

                      Ben , you are great.
I just had a second look in the area were a chinstrap would be attached and indeed, there is one small hole on each side. I tryed it with a needle and it went through easily. So this is probably another proof for an officers cap.

Now I need to find a matching officers chincord and buttons.

                      Many thanks Jens
