Mickey Maus? SS Tunic on Ebay?

I imagine some people have seen this one. I would love to hear comments on it from people with more experience for SS tunics than I have. I have seen the "acid wash" blue cloth before in tunics and have been very wary of it in the past. I do not remember ever seeing it before the wall fell in 1989. The Hbt looks odd too and the body looks more like midwar army wool and does not appear to be Italian wool (at least the blue-green wools I have seen) as stated.

One good give away is when the vendor uses the word ELITE in the description. There is nothing ELITE about this tunic, real or fake. The word ELITE usually refers to an outfit belonging to a member of an illustrious group, or in the case of the Third Reich, notorious is also accepted in Elitism, such as membership of the Dirlwanger Brigade for example.

As this tunic has no insignia how can it be judged to belong to the elite. I don't care for it.

The blue lining is a red flag for me, I have heard experienced collectors state that these tunics are Eastern European fakes, though I have no first-hand knowledge.

"Elite" is, of course, eBay code for "SS". The Waffen-SS were the "elite" branch of the German armed forces. The tunic in question is either an original Waffen-SS tunic or a reproduction of one- it is made in the SS pattern. I don't have a problem with the sellers description (assuming he is not knowingly passing off a fake).

I agree with Bobwirtz..Elite is a buzz world used for ss by the ebay knowledgable..And often a word thrown into the adds by the unknowing after taking a quick look at other add when trying to describe their militaira..think i even saw an elite LUFTSCHUTZ helmet..Billbert

              Cloth Observations

I am interested in the lining most. The problem with Ebay trying not to offend people and creating a safe community for everyone or whatever they think they are doing is another issue.

There is another type of cloth that I think is bad. I have seen overcoats pants and tunics made of it. It is a heavy ribbed wool, maybe 1950's eastern European?

I don't like the blue lining because it looks to me like it has been dyed blue and dyed poorly. You can see what almost looks like a tie-dye effect with uneven coloring to the fabric. I have never seen the lining in a tunic I know is real.
