It is not uncommon for Allgemeine-SS NCO's to have aluminum bullion foot regiment collar tabs as well as aluminum bullion cuff titles with aluminum borders, on the black tunic.

        little details.

The secondary works on this subject neglect a reform of the Anzugordnung of the Allgemeine SS which apparently took place in the course of 1937. At this time, the colored cuff titles were phased out, to be replaced by what most in the collector sphere regard as "officers' titles.." i.e. alu borders and alu #. In fact, these are Sturmbaender for the leader and OR, i.e. company bands, to designate the coy. The batallion designation was apparently done for those on the Sturmbann staff via roman #'s. I also believe at the same time, that the cotton thread collar patches were phased out, although they are still on the 1938 price list. The bulk of Allgemeine SS uniforms I have seen in some thirty five and more years have all alu Effekten. The alu. Sturmbaender are at the moment plentiful on the market, because of the discovery of a hoard of same in the western US. Such will be less the case in five years. The collar patches are exceptionally rare, as I am sure colleague Hritz will agree. This being said, uniforms with the colored cuff titles have endured somehow, and were likely worn past the date of the order to which I refer above. Maederer had a Regensburg uniform for sale recently with an alu wire collar patch and the alu wire cuff title for the Sturm. Further evidence of this reform, however minute, is found in the color plates of the Organisationsbuecher d. NSDAP, where at a point in 1938, the colored cuff titles are dropped, and the cuff titles appear to be bordered in white or alu. Pretty minor detail, to be sure. Colleague Hassler has a colored bordered cuff title for sale on his very worth while site. Such a thing is a great rarity.

The revised version of Mollo makes oblique reference to same. Derek Chapman has posted material on this score, as well, from his cornucoupia of SS Verordnungsblaetter.
