I do not want to involve myself in the dispute between you and Chris. My comments are strictly about the insignia, so, please take nothing personally.

The eagles you refer to as "twins" are far from it. The differences are numerous, some of which I listed in my response to the PM you sent me following my initial post. The second eagle posted in this thread is a fine original. If you look for the details I mentioned in my PM on that one, you will see the difference. There are other differences as well.

Oh yes, it is most certainly my business, whenever I am asked via E-mail privately about something and I will certainly share with the forum, whatever I desire to.

You say that you have seen your eagle's twins being sold many places
as originals and deemed original by experts on other forums.
Why don't you prove this. Where are they?
So far, you have only showed us links to original Assmann eagles and given us false information, such as;
"it is impossible to fake these angled edges" and "I can't explain why those marks are there, but I think it is still good".
Maybe you will listen to Brad or someone else.
I guess I'm just wasting my time.

Chris, go back and read this thread from the start. At no point have I said that it's a fact that this is an original eagle. The whole point of posting this thread is because I'm not sure and in an attempt to find out, I have offered some of my thoughts about it and asked for opinions.

You have said that it's a cast fake but you haven't said why. What's to listen to when you won't supply details? I've highlighted specific areas that would lead me to doubt that it is cast. I'm probably wrong but at least I'm saying why I came to that conclusion.

Here are a few significant things we have yet to discuss either on this thread or in my PMs.

First, you need to ask yourself what kind of metal that is. To my knowledge, the unmarked Assmann eagles (which this is modeled after and to which you have been comparing it) were only produced in zinc, which this material is clearly not. For that matter, it is also not any of the other known original materials. I bet it is quite heavy relative to any of the original eagle materials.

As for differences from the original zinc Assmann bird shown on this thread (other than material), take a look at what is shiny and what is not. On the original, the low, recessed areas are the places which are shiny. Those recessed areas were naturally less in contact with external abrasion and were, therefore, less susceptible to finish loss from surface wear. Also, the sprayed-on finish is slightly thicker in the recessed areas, due to pooling during application. Therefore, these are the last areas to retain the finish as it is slowly, but eventually, absorbed by the zinc. By contrast, on yours, it is the high, raised areas which are shiny (the exact opposite!). That is because yours was a casting which was cleaned/polished after removal from the mold. It was buffed to remove some of the casting surface imperfections, giving the high areas a smooth, shiny finish, but leaving the low areas with their dark roughness untouched.
