    M1/72 eagle and unmarked scull....

    Hello all,
After reading for hours all the treads on sculls and eagles looking for a "real" or "fake" pictured M1/72 eagle I found lots of good text but no pictures…. Maybe I did not look good enough…. Anyway, I was at a friend’s collector house this afternoon and he showed me these two items asking what my opinion was on them, I could not answer him as I’m completely lost with these … buckles are hard enough these days…I brought them home and took a few pictures and here they are. So are they or

              Hello, Mark

I like them both , the skull looks to be an unmarked Deschler piece.

Nothing wrong with that Zimmerman eagle IMO
                Skull looks good too.
                Great photos BTW.

I would have no hesitation in buying them. In fact, I would very much like to buy them if you don't go ahead with the purchase Marc.

Sorry for the late reply. I have been busy lately and haven't been on the forums in a while.
                          The eagle is 100% original.
However, I do not like any of the unmarked Deschler skulls, myself.
Unfortunately, there isn't much info on this particular skull variation.
I turned down a bag full of those at a very low price, (10 - 15 total), a short while ago at a show that were all identical to that one and have seen many others over the past few years, always priced much lower
                          than the known originals.
I just don't have any faith in them myself and can't find any evidence that suggests that they are authentic, especially since they are far from the other known Deschler skull dies and do not look half as nice.
They just don't look like Deschler quality in any way, in my opinion.
Also, I think Deschler would have always marked any early skull.
Anyway, I know that some people like these skulls though,
and since I can't really provide any proof that they are fake either,
you will just have to decide for yourself, as to whether or not
the skull is real to you. Maybe they were prototypes?

                          Best, Chris
