    hello all. im pushing my question again from the ss piping thread sorry.maybe i didnt explain myself properly. did ss visor always have the grain of the material running down one side and at 45 degree angle on the other, at the front? or was this a trate of only the heer visors, please help, ive an ss one that appears to be wooltype or a felt, its difficult to tell due to moth nipping, cant send pics but any thoughts more than welcome, many thanks, regards phil.

    Hi Phil, this "rule" applies mainly to caps made from "Trikot" wool. Felted wool caps are not made this way. Gary Wilkins book on headgear covers cap construction in some detail and is well worth buying.
